"AFRICAN PAINTED DOGS could be mistaken for a 19th century, landscape painting. Misty trees, a blanket of grass, a suggestion of the town on a distant hill, a peaceful, summer day and a carefree attitude all check the required boxes with one exciting exception: The usual, lounging ladies in dresses and hats have been surreptitiously replaced with three beauties of a different sort. The trio's dapper outfits and special, large ears admittedly equal — if not surpass — the charm and splendour of the earlier fashionistas. Dismissing green foliage and a blue sky in favour of a monochromatic, colour palette unifies the elements in the picture thus giving the impression that the dogs themselves have sprouted right out of the land they rest upon. This choice produces a glowing, surreal atmosphere which increases the glory of the golden coats and emphasizes the intriguing designs and dark patches found on these delightful animals which are depicted with sensitivity and excellence in this arresting and luxurious artwork." -- GALLERY RING
